On 20 June 2026, His Eminence Metropolitan John of Dubna, Chancellor of the St Sergius Orthodox Theological Institute, attended the closing day of the academic year, surrounded by the Institute’s teachers, students and friends. The Divine Liturgy was followed by the closing ceremony and the presentation of diplomas.
The afternoon continued with the presentation of the book: A Light on My Path: Letters to a Young Woman in Spiritual Search (YMCA Press, April 2026), published in French, by Father Alexander Schmemann (1921–1983), one of the great Orthodox theologians of the 20th century.
This meeting took on a quite special dimension, since the assembly had the immense joy and honour of welcoming (online) the woman who was the recipient of these letters. Her testimony shed unique light on this spiritual correspondence and on the personality of Father Alexander Schmemann.
