Palm Sunday: “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” (Mark 11:9)

“Confirming the universal resurrection, before Thy Passion, O Christ God, Thou didst raise Lazarus from the dead. And we, like the children, bearing the symbols of victory, cry out to Thee, O Conqueror of death: ‘Hosanna in the highest! Blessed is He that cometh in the name of the Lord!’” Troparion of the feast, tone 1

On Saturday 12 April 2025, His Eminence Metropolitan John of Dubna celebrated the Divine Liturgy of Lazarus Saturday at the cathedral. During this Liturgy, the Archbishop tonsured Alexander Manotskov a reader and ordained the deacon Andreas Regera priest for the parish of St Nicholas the Wonderworker in Düsseldorf, Germany.

That evening he celebrated the Vigil of Palm Sunday. After the reading of the Gospel, the Archbishop blessed the palms, which were then distributed to the many faithful present.

On Sunday 13 April, Metropolitan John of Dubna presided at the Divine Liturgy of the feast of the Entry of the Lord into Jerusalem at the cathedral, surrounded by his clergy and many faithful.

At the end of the Liturgy, Metropolitan John visited the crypt parish to announce the appointment of the new rector, Fr Boris de Maack, and to express his good wishes to Protodeacon Joseph Quemeraye on his 46 years of diaconate.
