Patronal Feast of St Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

On Friday, 12 September 2025, the day of the commemoration of Grand Prince Alexander Nevsky, in monasticism Alexis, His Eminence Metropolitan John of Dubna presided at the Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the cathedral’s patronal feast.

 

Concelebrating with him were Their Graces Bishop Justin (Јеремића) of Western Europe of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Bishop Symeon of Domodedovo, auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese, ArchpriestJoseph Skinner, representing His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, as well as many clergy who came to share the feast with their Archbishop.

At the Little Entrance, Metropolitan John awarded the mitre to the Very Reverend Archpriest Mihaïl Cusnir in gratitude for his 25 years of priestly ministry.

After the service, the Archbishop presented the Order of St Seraphim of Sarov (2nd class) of the Russian Orthodox Church, bestowed by the Patriarch, to the Very Reverend Protopresbyter Nikolas Crnokrakon the occasion of his 40 years of priesthood and of his zeal in the service of the Archdiocese.

On Sunday, 14 September 2025, the feast was celebrated with all the faithful of the cathedral. Before the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan John tonsured four readers for the cathedral and blessed the person in charge of the bells.

During the Little Entrance, the Metropolitan awarded the nabedrennik and the gold cross to Father Stanislav Shapovalov of Germany.

The service concluded with a procession, joined by the clergy and faithful of the Crypt parish. A generous agape prepared by the faithful followed this Liturgy.
