The leaders of the Christian denominations in France, meeting as part of the regular gatherings of the Council of Christian Churches in France (CÉCEF), add their voices to those calling for peace in Israel, Gaza and the West Bank.
They reaffirm that the hostages must be released unconditionally and that the bodies of the deceased must be returned to their families so that they may bury them with dignity.
They make their own the cry of those, children or adults, who suffer from hunger, who lack shelter and safety, and who ask that children and young people be able to study in peace.
They call on political leaders of all persuasions to act for a real and lasting peace. They reaffirm that respect for international law, in particular humanitarian law, is a necessary component of justice today and that a State grows in stature by respecting it. They pray God to raise up courageous and lucid peacemakers.
