The Choir of theChurch of the Resurrection in Grenoble organized, with the help of the association “Droujba 38”, a concert of liturgical chant.
The concert took place at the Musée Dauphinois. The museum is located above Grenoble in the former convent of Sainte-Marie d’en-Haut. The concert was held in the convent’s former chapel.
It has been three years since Tatiana Solnychkina took over the direction of the choir of the Church of the Resurrection. The work she has done there since her arrival has revived the beauty of the services. Tatiana has been able to motivate the singers, some of them inexperienced, requiring weekly rehearsals from them, and thus raise the level of the choir to create a united and harmonious ensemble. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, the result lived up to expectations at the concert.
The concert was introduced by a word from the rector, who recalled how important Peace is in the Church and for the world. We must not forget to work for it, each at his own level, by praying for “the peace of the whole world” and by being a source of Peace ourselves.
The programme of the concert consisted mainly of works sung at the services in the church. Some pieces were added to the usual repertoire to open the way to lesser-known composers.
This concert for Peace was a resounding success and filled the chapel with about 200 people (there were no more tickets on sale several days before the concert). Many listeners remarked on the beauty of the chants and the prayerful, recollected atmosphere.
A big thank you to all the singers for the work accomplished, and above all to Tatiana Solnychkina, to whom the success of this concert is owed.
Thanks also to the association “Droujba 38”, the Franco-Russian friendship association of the Isère, for its help with the organization, and to the Musée Dauphinois for hosting us.
